PE

At the Riverside Federation, we place great emphasis on Physical Education (PE), recognising its vital role in the holistic development of our students. Our curriculum guarantees a minimum of two hours of PE per week, ensuring that all pupils engage in regular physical activity. We are proud to offer a variety of active after-school clubs, enriching our students' experiences and promoting an active lifestyle.

Through our partnership with the Get Ahead Partnership, we provide numerous sporting opportunities offsite, further enhancing our students’ engagement with a range of physical activities. Additionally, we recognise the importance of leadership in sport; therefore, our Year 5 and 6 pupils receive training and opportunities to take on the role of sports leaders, fostering a sense of responsibility and teamwork.

We believe that participation in PE cultivates essential life skills such as resilience, teamwork, and patience. This aligns with our commitment to the 'Healthy Body, Healthy Mind' doctrine, supported by our collaboration with 'With Me In Mind.'

Furthermore, our annual swimming sessions for Years 3 to 5 consist of a block of lessons over two weeks, ensuring that every child develops crucial water safety and swimming skills. The continuous improvement of physical activity at our school is a priority, with invaluable contributions from our school council during their meetings.

Sports Leaders

Welcome to our Sports Leaders' page! One of our key roles is to help improve the skills of our fellow students. We do this by running a range of activities and focusing on different sports to spark more interest in our clubs. A big part of what we do is encourage our friends to be active and enjoy moving around, using that energy in a positive way.

Fair play is something we really care about. Our school has built a reputation for excellent conduct, and it's important for us to pass that ethos onto the younger children and future sports leaders. We’re particularly proud of our recent nomination for sportsmanship at a Dodgeball competition — a fantastic recognition of our spirit and teamwork!

As summer approaches and the delightful English weather improves, we’re excited to reintroduce some outdoor clubs for everyone to join in. We can’t wait to see more of you getting involved and having fun. Let's make the most of our time together and keep the spirit of sports alive in our school!
