Sports premium report
Sports Premium funding has enabled pupils to develop their physical skills, confidence and understanding of competitive sport in a range of ways. Participation in competitions has provided clear goals for lessons, motivating pupils to work towards specific outcomes and apply their learning in meaningful contexts. This has supported progression in PE and provided opportunities for pupils to demonstrate and improve their attainment.
The funding has also enabled less-confident pupils to access events focused on personal development within a slower-paced and safer environment. These opportunities have helped pupils build confidence, develop resilience and participate more readily in physical activity. This provision has been supported by our positive and productive relationship with our sports partnership, Get Ahead, in North Lincolnshire.
Resources have been updated across the school, from EYFS to Year 6, ensuring that pupils and staff have suitable equipment for curriculum lessons and active break times. In addition, extra-curricular activities have been offered to disadvantaged pupils, removing financial barriers and enabling them to participate in experiences that may otherwise have been inaccessible.
Without Sports Premium funding, the Federation would struggle to offer the level of support currently provided. Although we are a mainstay of local and town-wide sports networks, offering opportunities to all pupils, the transport required to attend events would continue to incur costs because of the location of our schools. We have established effective relationships with other primary schools and local secondary schools, and financial support enables us to participate in these networks.
Attendance at events has developed staff understanding of expectations for different age groups. This knowledge will be retained and applied to future lessons and lesson planning. We have also opened opportunities for disadvantaged pupils, encouraging participation in sport and, more importantly, an active lifestyle. Following an audit of our resources, we invested in equipment to support the expansion of sport beyond lessons.
Year 5 pupils have been trained through the Sports Leadership framework provided by Get Ahead. They will lead sports clubs for the remaining pupils this year, hopefully inspiring younger children to follow their example when they reach Years 5 and 6.
