Understanding Christianity
At Eastoft C of E Primary we use Understanding Christianity alongside the Lincolnshire Agreed Syllabus. Please see the progression grid to show how knowledge develops through school.
Withdrawal from Religious Education
Religious Education (RE) is part of the curriculum at The Riverside Federation. RE provides pupils with opportunities to learn about Christianity and other religions and beliefs, and to develop understanding, respect and thoughtful attitudes towards people with different beliefs and backgrounds.
Parents and carers have the legal right to request that their child is withdrawn, either wholly or partly, from RE lessons.
If you wish to request withdrawal, please contact the Headteacher in writing. We will be happy to discuss the RE curriculum with you and explain the content and aims of the lessons before arrangements are agreed.
Where a pupil is withdrawn from RE:
the request will be recorded;
the school will agree appropriate arrangements with the parent or carer;
the pupil will be appropriately supervised during the relevant lesson; and
the withdrawal will remain in place unless the parent or carer asks for it to be withdrawn.
Requests to withdraw a child from collective worship are separate from requests to withdraw from RE and should also be made in writing to the Headteacher.
